What kind of events does the Barceló Sants suit?
It is a very efficient choice for company conventions with attendees coming from all over Spain. If most of them arrive by high-speed train, the saving on transfers is huge: from platform to meeting room without leaving the building. It suits annual sales meetings, sales network gatherings, multi-day training and national association congresses. It also works for one-day meetings and seminars, with a return trip by train.
Rooms and capacities
The hotel lists 19 meeting rooms and 3,000 m² of meeting space, with capacity for up to 1,500 people. The largest space is the combination of rooms 09, 10 and 11, at 1,037 m²: 1,200 people theatre-style, 650 classroom-style, 720 for a banquet and 600 for a cocktail reception. Divided, they give three mid-sized rooms for breakout sessions. The remaining rooms range from committee meetings to plenaries of a couple of hundred people. Getting there
The hotel is on Plaça dels Països Catalans, above Sants station. High-speed trains, Rodalies commuter trains (with a direct airport link on the R2 Nord line) and the metro (L3 and L5) all stop there. It is probably the best-connected convention hotel in the city by land.
Production tips
- Match the schedule to the trains. Plan the start and end of the day around the arrival and departure times of most of the group. You will get better attendance at the first and last sessions.
- Plan a luggage room. For one-day events with a return train, an organised luggage store stops the group from bringing suitcases into the meeting room.
- Hold dinner elsewhere. The area around the station is practical but not very appealing at night. Montjuïc, Poble-sec and the city centre are a few minutes away for a gala dinner.
- Check loading and access. In a building above a station, access for set-up is limited. Ask the hotel for its procedure before designing the staging.
What works well nearby
