What kind of events does the Hotel Miramar suit?
It is not a hotel for large conventions. It is a hotel with character, ideal when the group is mid-sized and the setting weighs in the decision: leadership meetings, client presentations, incentive programmes and group dinners with gardens and views. It also works as the venue for the working day of a corporate convention of 150 to 250 people, with the rest of the programme at other venues in the city.
What we have produced here
In September 2022 we organised Edenred's E-Day at the Miramar, a convention day with a themed welcome, staged sessions, an awards ceremony and dinner. We worked in its glazed function rooms, which open onto the terrace, and we know the set-up times and logistics of a hillside hotel well.
Rooms and capacities
The hotel has eight spaces. The largest is the Salón Mediterráneo, at 300 m²: 300 people for drinks, 240 theatre-style or for a banquet and 150 classroom-style. Next come the Salón Azulete, at 200 m² and surrounded by gardens (200 for drinks or theatre-style, 140 for a banquet), and the Sala Montjuïc, at 166 m² (140 theatre-style). For committees there are rooms of 24 to 34 m², an 85 m² art gallery and a bar space, Clandestino, for drinks receptions of 80 people. The figures come from the hotel's website.
Getting there
The hotel is at Plaça de Carlos Ibáñez, 3, on the side of Montjuïc facing the port. The port cable car station is very close. Public transport does not reach the door conveniently for a group, so we plan coaches from hotels or from the airport.
Production tips
- Allow for the slope. Loading access and coach manoeuvres on the hill need planning. Ask the hotel for times and unloading points.
- Play with indoors and outdoors. The function rooms open onto gardens and terraces: drinks outside and dinner inside work very well from May to October.
- Take the whole hotel for VIP groups. With 75 bedrooms, partial or full exclusive use is feasible for high-end incentives.
- Combine with Montjuïc. The programme can continue at museums and venues on the hill without long transfers.
What works well nearby
A few minutes away are the InterContinental Barcelona, to accommodate a larger group, and Fira de Montjuïc. The World Trade Center Barcelona, at the foot of the hill in Port Vell, works as a larger working venue. For the evening, Montjuïc offers unique venues for gala dinners.
