What kind of events does the Hotel Arts suit?
It is one of Barcelona's strongest options when a company convention needs a large ballroom, plenty of bedrooms and a premium brand image at the same address. It works well for annual sales meetings, European kick-offs, distributor meetings and gala dinners of up to a thousand guests. It also suits mid-sized corporate or medical congresses, as long as the exhibition is small.
Rooms and capacities
The centrepiece is the Gran Saló Gaudí, at 1,343 m². Set up as a single space it holds 1,410 people theatre-style, 1,040 for a banquet and 888 classroom-style. It divides into four sections (Gaudí 1 to 4), so you can run a plenary in the morning and breakout rooms in the afternoon without moving the group to another floor.
The Pau Casals is the second ballroom: 378 people theatre-style or 230 for a banquet, and it also divides in two. The offer is completed by a series of rooms for 20 to 50 people (Picasso, Miró, Sert, Fortuny, Goya, Velázquez and others) that combine with each other, and two restaurant spaces, Lokal and Gehry, for drinks receptions of 150 to 200 guests. Room capacities come from the hotel's website. Marriott puts the total at 20 meeting rooms and 2,970 m² of meeting space.
Getting there
The hotel is in the Vila Olímpica, between the beach and Port Olímpic. The nearest metro is Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica (L4), with a tram stop in the same area. For groups arriving by air we recommend coach transfers: they avoid changes with luggage and let you control arrival times.
Production tips
- Book the ballroom together with the room block. During major trade show weeks the city fills up and hotels give priority to full packages.
- Plan the set-up in good time. With staging or large-format LED screens, ask the hotel for loading access and set-up and breakdown slots before finalising the running order.
- Use the sections. Dividing the Gaudí saves space and improves acoustics for sessions of 200 to 500 people.
- Watch the outdoors. The seafront terraces are a great asset for drinks receptions, but the coast is windy: always plan an indoor plan B.
What works well nearby
The CCIB and the Diagonal Mar hotels, such as the Hilton Diagonal Mar, are a few minutes away by car, useful if your congress needs more exhibition space than a hotel offers. In the same area is the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper, handy for accommodating speakers or a second group. You can compare these options in our selection of convention hotels.
