Meeting rooms and seminar venues in Barcelona

For a meeting, seminar or company day of 20 to 300 people, Barcelona offers much more than hotel meeting rooms: equipped auditoriums, professional associations, cultural institutions and historic buildings with working rooms. Here we compare the ones we suggest most often, with verified capacities, and help you choose.

What makes a good meeting room?

A meeting works when nobody thinks about the room. That takes comfortable capacity, good acoustics, controllable light, a stable connection and breaks that do not overrun. For meetings and seminars of 20 to 300 people, location also matters a great deal: close to the group's hotels, well connected and with a place for lunch or dinner a few minutes away.

How to choose the room

  1. Format before capacity. A room for 80 theatre-style drops to 40 classroom-style or 30 in a U-shape. Decide the set-up first.
  2. Breakout rooms. If there are workshops, look for a venue with several rooms in the same building.
  3. Technology. Simultaneous interpreting, streaming, live voting or video conferencing: confirm what is in the room and what needs hiring.
  4. Hours. Some institutional venues close at 8 pm or require authorisation at weekends.
  5. Catering. In-house restaurant, open catering or a recommended supplier. Decide where breaks and lunch are served.
  6. Access. Parking, metro, coach stop and accessibility.

Common rules at institutional venues and historic buildings

Professional associations, cultural institutions and museums have their own rules: fixed capacities that cannot be increased with extra chairs (as at the Institut d'Estudis Catalans), office-hour time slots, loading and unloading at set times and restrictions on fixings in listed rooms. They also usually ask for the event content in the request. We prepare it and handle it with each venue.

Unique venues with working rooms

If you want a day with more character, several unique venues have rooms set up for work:

The figures come from each venue's official websites and catalogues; sources are on each venue page. If your group needs accommodation in the same building, also see our convention hotels.

How we organise it

We suggest two or three venues with confirmed availability, negotiate the rate and terms, and take care of AV, breaks, catering, transfers and in-room coordination. Get in touch with your date, number of attendees and format, and we will reply within 24 business hours.

Frequently asked questions

Which 300-seat auditorium in Barcelona is not in a hotel?

Among those we compare, Espacio IMO (Grupo Miranza) and the congress hall at the Col·legi de Metges both hold 300 people. IMO adds simultaneous interpreting, a microphone at every seat and parking for attendees.

Where can I hold a leadership meeting in the city centre?

For groups of 6 to 25 people, the Sala de Juntes at the Ateneu Barcelonès (20), the Sala Vicepresidents (6) or the Sala CaixaBank D (24) at Foment del Treball, and the Capilla Gótica or the Sala de la Luz at the Reial Cercle Artístic all work very well.

Is a hotel meeting room or an external venue better?

If the group is staying at the hotel and the meeting lasts several days, the hotel meeting room is usually more practical. For a one-day session, an external venue with character changes the group's energy. Always compare what each rate includes before deciding.

What does room hire usually include?

It depends on the venue. Many include furniture, PA and a projector; catering, an AV technician and hours outside normal times are usually extra. At Foment del Treball, for example, hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and extra hours are charged separately.

Can you organise breakout sessions?

Yes. Venues such as the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, the Ateneu Barcelonès or Foment del Treball have an auditorium and several rooms in the same building, allowing a plenary and workshops without transfers.

Have you worked at any of these venues?

Yes. We produced the Gurobi meeting at Espacio IMO in 2023 and a Trend Micro workshop at Torre Bellesguard. For the rest we advise you with official data and a site visit.
