What kind of events does the Hilton Diagonal Mar suit?
It is a hotel designed for groups. Being so close to the CCIB, it is a natural choice as the headquarters hotel of a congress: organising committee, speakers, satellite meetings and the speakers' dinner all in the same building. On its own it covers company conventions of up to 800 people theatre-style, sales meetings with many breakout rooms and gala dinners of up to 800 seated guests.
Rooms and capacities
The Ballroom measures 1,001 m² with a 6 m ceiling, a figure you appreciate when installing a stage, screens and rigging. It holds 800 people theatre-style, 600 classroom-style, 800 for a banquet at round tables and 1,000 for a drinks reception. It divides into sections: the Ballroom A+B combination, at 664 m², holds 650 people theatre-style.
The hotel has 22 meeting rooms with natural light, several of which can be combined, and two very useful outdoor spaces: the Pergola, at 550 m² (500 for drinks), and the pool terrace, with capacity for receptions of up to 780 people. Getting there
The hotel is on Passeig del Taulat, in Diagonal Mar, around 25 minutes from the airport and 15 from the city centre according to the hotel itself. By public transport, El Maresme | Fòrum metro station (L4) and the Fòrum tram stop (T4) are a short walk away.
Production tips
- Block rooms early if you coincide with a large congress. When the CCIB hosts a major international event, the Diagonal Mar hotels are the first to fill up.
- Use the Ballroom's height. It allows vertical staging and large screens without resorting to rear projection.
- Separate registration and plenary. With large groups, use the foyer and an adjoining room for registration and sponsors to avoid queues at the ballroom entrance.
- Plan outdoor use by season. The pool terrace works very well from May to October. Outside that season, plan the reception indoors.
What works well nearby
A few steps away are the CCIB and other hotels in the Fòrum area, such as the Leonardo Royal Hotel Barcelona Forum and the SLS Barcelona, useful for splitting a large room block. For a dinner with views or an incentive activity, the beach and Port Fòrum are right next door.
