Why a unique venue for your event?

A unique venue changes how an event is remembered. For an international group, dining in a palace on Montjuïc or a Gothic exchange explains Barcelona better than any presentation. We suggest them above all for gala dinners, congress welcome receptions, product launches and the special evening of an incentive trip. For the working sessions, we usually pair them with a hotel or a meeting room.

Company parties, Christmas dinners and team building are handled by our sister site, Be Events Barcelona.

How to choose the right venue

  1. Real capacity, not maximum. The published capacity is the ceiling. Stage, screens, bars and a dance floor take up a lot of space.
  2. Indoors or outdoors. Patios, gardens and squares need a marquee or a plan B. In rain or wind, the plan B is the event.
  3. Time slot. Museums and monuments are used outside visiting hours. That determines the set-up and the group's arrival time.
  4. Catering. Approved, recommended or open. It shapes the menu, the field kitchen and the budget.
  5. Access. Coaches, parking, walking distance and accessibility for every guest.
  6. Fit with the message. Art, architecture, industry or views: the venue also communicates.

Common rules in historic buildings and museums

  • Protected heritage. Nothing is hung or fixed without approval. Rigging, load and staging plans are approved with the venue.
  • Fast-track set-up. The event starts when the museum closes. We work with crews in parallel and a minute-by-minute set-up schedule.
  • Sound and effects. Volume limits, restricted PA and prior authorisation for performances or special effects.
  • Authorised suppliers. Some venues require approved caterers, public liability insurance and accredited staff.
  • Site visit. Always before finalising the proposal: routes, loads, catering office, backstage and power points.

How we work with unique venues

We check availability, place an option, visit the venue with you or on your behalf and prepare a technical plan the venue can approve. Then we coordinate catering, AV, staging, permits and staff with a single point of contact. If you want to see how these venues fit alongside hotels and convention centres, start with our guide to event venues.

Frequently asked questions

Which unique venue in Barcelona has the largest capacity?

Of those we compare, the Poble Espanyol, with its Plaza Mayor for 1,200 people at a banquet and 2,800 for drinks. Indoors, the MNAC's Sala Oval seats 1,200 for dinner and El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria 830 for a banquet.

Can I choose the caterer at a museum or historic building?

It depends on the venue. Some work with a closed list of approved caterers, such as La Pedrera. Others accept external suppliers, such as Torre Bellesguard or the Torre de Collserola. We always confirm this before proposing a menu.

What time can an event start at a museum?

Usually when it closes to the public. That is why set-ups tend to be fast and done in parallel. Each venue sets its own slots: at the Drassanes, for example, the Grada Major is used from 8 pm to 10 pm, and the Fundació Joan Miró must be closed by 2 am.

Are there limits on sound or performances?

Yes, in many cases. PA systems are not allowed in the Grada Major at the Museu Marítim and performances require prior authorisation. Other buildings limit volume, effects or cold pyrotechnics. We review this on the site visit.

How far in advance should I book?

For a gala dinner of 300 to 1,000 people, between 6 and 12 months. During major trade show weeks such as ISE or MWC, the best-known venues are booked well in advance.

Have you produced events at these venues?

Yes, at many of them: MNAC, Llotja de Mar, Drassanes Reials, La Pedrera, Poble Espanyol, Castell de Montjuïc, Torre Bellesguard, Torre de Collserola, Fàbrica Moritz and Mas Solà. Each venue page says so.
