What kind of events does the Meliá Barcelona Sky suit?
It is a very practical hotel for meetings and seminars and for conventions of 150 to 350 people that want to be in the 22@, Poblenou's technology district. It suits technology and services companies, international team meetings and incentive programmes that combine working sessions with the beach and Poblenou's neighbourhood life.
What we have produced here
On the eve of IBTM, the international meetings and incentives trade show, we organised the Party Like Gatsby for Meliá in the hotel's Sky Room. It was the welcome for Hosted Buyers from all over the world: 1920s theming, games, swing music and food by a Top Chef contestant. We know its spaces, its access routes and how it works.
Rooms and capacities
Meliá lists 14 event spaces, 1,147 m² and a maximum capacity of 933 people. According to the Barcelona Convention Bureau listing, the Evolution room (306 m², 4.8 m ceiling height and natural light) holds 240 people theatre-style and 300 for a banquet. The Sky 1, 2 and 3 rooms take 360 people theatre-style and 350 for a banquet when combined. There are also seven studios for groups of 12 to 60 people, a library and a terrace for drinks receptions of around 80 people.
Getting there
The hotel is at Carrer de Pere IV, 272-286, very close to the Diagonal and the tram, 17.9 km from the airport. From here it is a few minutes to the CCIB and Poblenou beach.
Production tips
- Choose the room by ceiling height. The Sky rooms are 5.1 m high and the Evolution 4.8 m: these are the right rooms for a stage and large screen. The studios have low ceilings.
- Use natural light wisely. The Evolution has daylight. If you are projecting, plan for blackout.
- Coordinate with trade shows. During IBTM or major congresses at the CCIB, demand in the area soars. Book early.
What works well nearby
The CCIB and the Diagonal Mar hotels, such as the Hilton Diagonal Mar, are a few minutes away. For the gala dinner, the beach and Poblenou's restored industrial spaces offer alternatives with character.
