What kind of events does Torre Melina suit?
Its big asset is the combination with the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya. For a congress of 800 to 2,000 delegates it puts auditorium, breakout rooms, exhibition and accommodation in the same complex, something rare in Barcelona outside the CCIB and Fira areas. Without the Palau, the hotel works on its own for conventions of up to 850 people, leadership meetings and multi-day seminars.
What we have produced here
In July 2025 we organised the Members Fest for Meliá Hotels International, a five-day programme for the company's guests based at Torre Melina: stage and show, themed dinners, outdoor activities and an evening with chefs Hermanos Torres. We know the gardens, the production access routes and the hotel's timings.
Rooms and capacities
Meliá lists 22 meeting rooms and 2,758 m² of meeting space in the hotel. The main room is the Marenostrum, at 840 m² (42 x 20 m), with a maximum capacity of 850 people. It divides into six sections of 100 to 180 m². Next comes the Terral room, at 245 m² for 150 people, and a group of mid-sized rooms (Ponent, Llevant, Mestral, Tramuntana and Club) of 68 to 128 m², which in turn divide into spaces for 25 people for working meetings. The website does not break down capacities by set-up, so we always request the floor plan with the specific layout before confirming.
The hotel has 391 bedrooms and a rooftop on the 17th floor with city views, useful for welcome drinks.
Getting there
Torre Melina is at Avinguda Diagonal, 671, 12.5 km from the airport according to Meliá. It is served by metro L3 (Zona Universitària) and the tram lines along the Diagonal. The hotel has an underground car park and the Palau has its own, with 214 spaces.
Production tips
- Treat the complex as a whole. A plenary in the Palau auditorium, breakout sessions in the hotel and lunch in the gardens reduces movement and dead time.
- Book bedrooms when you confirm the space. If the congress coincides with another major event in the city, the room block is the first thing to sell out.
- Ask for capacities by set-up. Public figures are maximums. A classroom set-up with tables or a wide stage greatly reduces real capacity.
- Hold the evening elsewhere. The area is quiet. For a gala dinner at a unique venue, plan coaches.
What works well nearby
As well as the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, the same stretch of the Diagonal has university and corporate buildings suitable for technical visits. If your event needs more exhibition space, compare it with the CCIB on our convention centres page.
