What kind of events does WTC Barcelona suit?
It is a very versatile venue for congresses of 200 to 500 delegates, corporate conventions, company meetings and seminars and presentations with harbour views. Its strength is the combination of auditorium, large rooms, modular rooms and hotel in the same building, a few minutes' walk from La Rambla and Port Vell.
Spaces and capacities
The auditorium has 430 seats across 379 m², with a 40 m² stage. There are three large rooms:
- Sala Ágora: 816 m², 450 people theatre-style, 250 classroom-style, 450 for a banquet and 500 for drinks. It divides in two.
- Sala Port Vell: 700 m², 250 theatre-style and 460 for drinks. It divides in three.
- Sala Aqua: 420 m², 250 theatre-style and 200 for a banquet.
The Salas A, of 94 to 112 m², hold 50 to 90 people theatre-style. The centre also has ten modular rooms of 24 to 136 m², with up to 20 combinations, for committees and workshops. In total, the WTC states more than 5,000 m² on the waterfront. The figures come from the centre's own website.
Getting there
The WTC is on the Moll de Barcelona, in Port Vell, a few minutes' walk from the end of La Rambla. The nearest metro stations are Drassanes (L3) and Paral·lel (L2 and L3). Buses V11, 91, D20, H14 and V13 stop nearby, and the complex has more than 900 parking spaces.
Production tips
- Coordinate with port activity. On days when cruise ships and ferries arrive, traffic on the quay increases. Schedule coaches and set-ups accordingly.
- Combine auditorium and Ágora. A plenary in the auditorium with exhibition or lunch in the Ágora is a format that works for congresses of 400 people.
- Make use of the integrated hotel. The Eurostars Grand Marina lets you accommodate speakers or the whole group without transfers.
- Make the most of the surroundings. Port Vell, El Born and Barceloneta are close by for gala dinners and activities.
What works well nearby
The W Barcelona is across the port for presentations with more visual impact. The Hotel Miramar, on the slopes of Montjuïc above the port, is an option for small groups. Compare with Barcelona's other convention centres.
