El Born is one of the few venues in the old town where several hundred people can sit down under a single roof. The market's great iron structure, with the archaeological site in full view, makes a powerful setting with little staging. We suggest it for gala dinners at conventions and congresses, product launches and conferences with a drinks reception.

Getting there

The main entrance is at Plaça Comercial, 12, opposite Passeig del Born. Jaume I (L4) and Barceloneta (L4) metro stations are a few minutes away, and Arc de Triomf (L1 and Rodalies) is a short walk. Coaches can stop around the Parc de la Ciutadella.

Production tips

A cultural venue. The centre has its own programme and visitors. Large set-ups fit into specific days: confirm dates before committing to them.
In-house technicians. To use the AV equipment in the Sala Moragues, you need to hire the venue's regular technicians. Include this in the budget.
Archaeological site. The remains cannot be walked on or loaded. The layout of tables, bars and stage follows the permitted routes.
Acoustics. Under an iron and glass roof, sound bounces. Zoned sound and a good in-house technician make all the difference to speeches.

What works well nearby

Llotja de Mar is a five-minute walk away, ideal for a welcome reception beforehand. For working meetings in the centre, Foment del Treball on Via Laietana. And if your programme continues by the sea, the Drassanes Reials round off a tour of historic Barcelona.
