What kind of events does the Poble Espanyol suit?
Few venues in Barcelona let you bring more than a thousand people together for a single dinner with this level of privacy. We use it for gala dinners and closing nights of conventions, client parties during major trade shows and multi-area events, with a welcome in one space, dinner in another and a party in a third. Company parties and Christmas dinners are handled by our sister site Be Events Barcelona.
Spaces and capacities
The Plaza Mayor is the site's main space: 2,043 m², 1,200 people for a banquet, 1,800 theatre-style and 2,800 for drinks. It is outdoors but can be covered. Around it are spaces for every scale:
- Lasala: a 250-seat theatre with a motorised screen and professional lighting.
- Monastery of Sant Miquel: chapel, cloister and a banquet or meeting room, with a separate entrance.
- Hivernacle: a glazed pavilion usable in winter, which works with Vilaplana Catering.
- Marquee and picnic area: as a banquet hall or conference room, with private access.
- Cookiteca, Espacio Guinovart, Auditorio Fran Daurel and Baluarte: for cookery workshops, drinks receptions, presentations and small concerts.
The hire includes cleaning, security, coordination and reception. Other capacities are requested from the site depending on the set-up.
Getting there
The site is on Montjuïc, five minutes from Plaça d'Espanya (metro L1 and L3, FGC) and served by buses 13, 23 and 150. It has car and coach parking right behind it, a real advantage for group transfers.
Production tips
- Rain plan. If you use the Plaza Mayor outside summer, book the cover or an indoor backup space from the outset.
- Routes. The site is large. Signpost well and allow time for moving between spaces.
- Catering. Some spaces have an associated supplier, such as the Hivernacle with Vilaplana. Confirm this before finalising the menu.
- Late nights. Its location on Montjuïc allows long parties. Even so, we check music and closing times with the site.
What works well nearby
The MNAC and the Fundació Joan Miró are on the same hill and CaixaForum Barcelona is next door. If your event coincides with a congress at Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc, the transfer takes a few minutes.
