The challenge
WSEI is the international symposium Establishment Labs dedicates to ergonomic implants and to aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Its ninth edition, under the theme “The Birth of Preservation Surgery”, took place in Barcelona at the end of October 2024 and brought together surgeons and specialists from many countries.
A medical congress of this kind has three clear demands. First, the scientific programme must run without interruption: talks, sessions and panels with tight timings and technical content. Second, international delegates must find their way from the first minute, with fast accreditation and support in several languages. Third, the evenings must serve the client's purpose: conversation between speakers, surgeons and the brand's team.
What we did
We coordinated the congress services over the three days, with the same production team at every venue.
- Scientific venue. The sessions took place at Clínica Planas. We set up the plenary with stage, screens and sound, and coordinated the break and networking areas between sessions.
- Accreditation and delegate support. Registration desks staffed by our team, with badges and materials handed to each delegate.
- Catering and services. We coordinated catering, coffee breaks and technical suppliers so the scientific content drove the agenda.
- First gala dinner at Llotja de Mar. The courtyard and halls of the former exchange hosted an evening with staging, fine food and room to talk.
- Farewell at the Drassanes Reials. The closing dinner was held at the Museu Marítim, beneath the Gothic naves of the old shipyards.
We worked from a single run of show covering both the scientific and social programmes. That gave the client one local point of contact for venues, suppliers and timings.
The result
Establishment Labs held its 9th WSEI in Barcelona with a three-day programme delivered end to end by one team: a fully operational scientific venue, delegates looked after from accreditation onwards and two gala dinners in two of the city's historic buildings.
