Why PortAventura for a company convention?

PortAventura solves the hardest part of a large convention: fitting hundreds of people onto one site, with enough meeting rooms, accommodation a few minutes' walk away and something special for the evening. The Convention Centre has more than 20,000 m² over two floors and 24 modular rooms; the resort has six hotels of its own, one five-star and five four-star, and together with the brand's nearby hotels there are more than 3,000 rooms.

On top of that comes an argument no city hotel can match: PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land can be hired privately for cocktails, dinners, activities and shows. A group that spends the day in meetings and the night in a park all to itself goes home with a story to tell.

The programme above is an outline: we tailor it to your attendee numbers, the messages you want to work on and the resort's calendar.

What are the logistics like with a large group?

PortAventura is on the Costa Daurada, between Salou and Vila-seca, around an hour south of Barcelona. By coach with a group we allow 1 h 15 min along the AP-7. From Madrid, the AVE high-speed train to Camp de Tarragona takes about two and a half hours, and the transfer from there is short. If part of the group flies in, we combine arrivals at El Prat and Reus.

Inside the resort almost everything is on foot: hotels, Convention Centre and parks are all connected. For groups of several hundred we organise registration by surname initial, luggage storage with bags taken straight to each hotel and coffee breaks with several serving stations to avoid queues. The rooming list is spread across several hotels, and that is the most labour-intensive part: we manage it with the resort.

What is there beyond the resort?

Roman Tarragona. About 20-25 minutes away lies Tarraco, whose archaeological ensemble has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000: an amphitheatre facing the sea, a circus and city walls. With official guides in smaller groups and audio guides, it makes an undemanding cultural afternoon that pairs well with lunch in the Part Alta or El Serrallo.

The Priorat. An hour inland, the landscape changes completely: terraced vineyards, the Cartoixa d'Escaladei and one of Spain's most renowned wine appellations. There we organised Edenred's 'Haka' convention at Hotel Terra Dominicata, a 26-room winery hotel 1.5 km from the Cartoixa, inside the Montsant Natural Park. For a leadership team, the Priorat can be the whole convention; for a large group, a one-day extension.

The Ebro Delta. Just over an hour to the south, the natural park offers rice paddies, lagoons, birdwatching and boat trips around the river mouth. It is the option for groups looking for flat, open nature and produce-led cooking.

How does it adapt to 150 or 1,000 people?

Group size Plenary Accommodation Special night
100-250 people Mid-sized Convention Centre room One or two resort hotels Trattoria dinner at Ferrari Land
250-600 people Main hall Two or three hotels Ferrari Land on private hire
600-1,000 or more Main hall with vision mixing and streaming Several resort and nearby hotels PortAventura Park on private hire

For very large groups it is worth booking well ahead, because room and meeting space availability depends on the resort's calendar and other events.

What changes with the season

Spring and autumn are the best seasons for combining meeting rooms, the park and trips out in good weather. In high summer the resort is busy with holidaymakers and the heat means scheduling Tarragona for late afternoon. In winter the Convention Centre works just the same, but the parks' calendar changes: we check it for your date before proposing the private evening.

Budget: what it depends on

The cost lines are accommodation, meeting rooms, technical production, catering, private hire of the park, transfers, guides and coordination. What moves the cost most is the number of nights, the hotel category assigned to each attendee profile, the scale of the plenary set-up and whether the special night takes place in one area of the park or the whole park. You will see it all broken down in the proposal; our guide how much a convention costs explains each factor.

How we work on a programme like this

We produce the convention from start to finish: content design and running order, set design and AV, transfer and accommodation logistics, catering and the evening in the park. If you want a more experiential format, our [re] Conventions Experience product is designed precisely for this. We explain it in experiential conventions and in company conventions.

If you would rather stay in the city, compare with the three-day programme in Barcelona, or see the other destinations in convention programmes.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take from Barcelona to PortAventura?

PortAventura quotes around an hour from Barcelona. By coach with a group we allow 1 h 15 min. From Madrid it is about two and a half hours by AVE to Camp de Tarragona, where we collect the group.

How many people can the Convention Centre take?

It has 24 rooms and more than 20,000 m², with capacity for meetings of 10 to 6,000 people. Accommodation adds up to more than 3,000 rooms across the resort hotels and those nearby.

Can the parks be booked exclusively for our company?

Yes. PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land can be hired privately for cocktails, dinners, activities and shows. Conditions depend on the date and the opening calendar, so we confirm them in the proposal.

Is it only a destination for large groups?

No. It works very well from 100 people upwards, and for small teams we combine the resort with the Priorat, where Terra Dominicata offers 26 rooms surrounded by vineyards.

Have you organised conventions in the province of Tarragona?

Yes. We organised Edenred's 'Haka' convention at Hotel Terra Dominicata, in Escaladei, in the heart of the Priorat.
