Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya: auditorium and rooms on Montjuïc

The Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya (MAC) occupies the former Palau de les Arts Gràfiques, built for the 1929 Exhibition on Montjuïc. It hires out a 90-seat auditorium, a library for meetings of up to 40 people and three rooms that together take up to 300 standing guests. We suggest it for seminars and presentations.

What kind of events does the MAC suit?

The MAC is a quiet venue with substance for small and mid-sized groups on Montjuïc. It suits meetings and seminars of 20 to 90 people, product presentations followed by drinks, board meetings in the library and side events for a congress held at Fira de Montjuïc. The collection, with pieces from prehistory to the Roman period, offers a short and very interesting tour for international groups.

Which format works best?

A format that works well is the late afternoon presentation: a 60 to 90-minute session in the auditorium, a short guided tour of the collection and drinks in the interconnected rooms. For a board or leadership meeting, the library offers a quiet, private setting for up to 40 people, with the option to finish with dinner at another venue on Montjuïc.

Getting there

The museum is on Montjuïc, on the way up from Plaça d'Espanya towards the MNAC and very close to the Poble Espanyol. Espanya metro (L1 and L3, FGC) and buses that go up Montjuïc. For groups, the coach can drop guests near the entrance.

Production tips

  • Mid-sized groups. It is a venue for sessions of up to 90 people. If you need more seats, find a larger auditorium and use the MAC for drinks.
  • Interconnected rooms. The three exhibition rooms flow naturally into each other: a good format for a drinks reception with content.
  • Heritage. The collection's pieces dictate where bars, catering and equipment can go. We finalise this on the site visit.
  • External management. Bookings go through the company that markets the spaces: allow time for confirmation.

What works well nearby

On the same hill you have the MNAC, the Fundació Joan Miró and the Poble Espanyol for the social programme. If your event is linked to a congress, Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc is a few minutes' walk away.
